Shopping, Aussie Style

On Tuesday morning my Mini Sis arrived from Bathurst and we met for the first time. Lawrence (the lovely man who owns the restaurant where breakfast is served) very kindly agreed to take a photograph of the moment when the two of us met for the first time. I couldn’t ask Nick to do it as he was at home looking after his six-year-old son and wasn’t due to join us until later in the day.

Min and I sat and chatted over coffee and decided to go for a wander around the shops to give us a chance to simply chat and begin to get to know each other. Our first stop was the QVB (Queen Victoria Building).

One of the clocks at QVB

We wandered in and out of the shops in this beautifully restored building without buying anything, although I was sorely tempted by a rather attractive diamond ring!

When we left QVB we could hear the sound of drumming. I really enjoy listening to drumming whatever style it it. There is something elemental about it. It reaches somewhere deep inside of me. It really calls to me. We wandered along towards where the sound was coming from and saw a young chap playing on upturned plastic tubs. He appeared to be thoroughly enjoying himself and had a huge smile on his face. We stopped to listen for several minutes. It was a very pleasant interlude.
